A Farm Wedding

This week's real bride feature takes us across the pond to Maryland, USA. Catherine and Doug were married last July at their family farm, where they adapted to the natural theme of the day; think hay bales and cowgirl boots, complete with our Lila dress! Here's a little more about Catherine and Doug's love story:

A Farm Wedding

Where did you meet?

Funnily enough, we met through our adult children! My daughter and Doug's son dated for 3 years and after they broke up, Doug and I began to date.

What made you choose your venue?

We actually got married on my family farm! We chose this venue because we originally wanted to get married at the Courthouse, but due to Covid, it was closed. This wedding is the second for both Doug and I, so our families were insistent we have a ceremony and that we celebrate.

Tell us about your dress!

I searched for 2 weeks for the perfect wedding dress for my second wedding. I came across Alie Street on the internet, read numerous reviews and found the dress I had been looking for. My dress had a lace overlay, with 3/4 length sleeves that was perfect for a summer outside wedding. My dress was very pretty and totally my style. I added cowgirl boots at the last minute to compliment the farmer clothes my father wore to walk me down the aisle!

What are your tips for brides-to-be?

My advice for new brides is to not sweat the small stuff! Allow other people to help you plan your wedding and do some of the work. Enjoy your day! It goes by very quickly.

People to mention……

My florist was a local business near us called The Flower Cottage, a family-owned florist in Hereford, Maryland. Our cake was made by a French pastry shop called Pâtisserie Poupon in Baltimore, Maryland.

Whilst unfortunately we're unable to help you with the Cowboy boots, they're the models own, we can help you with the dress! Catherine opted for a signature Alie Street style; our Lila dress in Ivory. The soft stretch lace shift dress has a classic boat neck, sheer panel and sleeves that showcase floral detail in contrast matt and sheen lace. The scalloped lace detail of the sleeves and hem with the sweetheart neckline oozes relaxed glamour and the knee length is graceful. Last but certainly not least, the Lila dress is fully lined in jersey allowing for figure-perfect comfort on your big day!
