After reconnecting through their local church, the couple chose to marry in the very place they first met, surrounded by family, friends, and faith. Where did you meet? 

We met in our local church when Andrew returned to his home town after more than 35 years living away.  

Where did you get married and why did you choose the venue? 

It could never be anywhere else but in our church where we met! We had a reception for 120 family members and closest friends in a marquee at a local wedding venue. The relaxed atmosphere suited us both perfectly as we wanted a celebration of how faith and courage helped both of us to find love a second time.  

Tell us about the dress…

The Iris Gown by Alie Street was the only dress I tried on! I was looking for something elegant that suited a mature bride and it was perfect. It enhances your shape and the cut of the dress cleverly disguises all the parts you are less comfortable about!  

What advice would you have for other brides planning a wedding? 

You don’t have to spend a fortune to have a perfect day. My top 3 things to celebrate your love and not get caught up in “wedding fever” which blows the budget are:

1) Invite people who genuinely are happy for you and want to share your day, not because you feel they have to be there. They are also less likely to let you down at the last minute!

2) Choose a venue and decorations that people will remember because it reflects you as a couple. The most elaborate, is not always best.  

3) Choose a dress that not only makes you look fabulous but is comfortable. Same goes for shoes…It’s a long day!  

Any other Fun facts?  

If you have things to say about the groom, the events leading up to your wedding and you want to thank people, I really recommend that you break tradition and give a bride’s speech. You won’t regret it!
